Many professionals struggle with the Impostor Syndrome (IS), doubting their success despite clear evidence of competence. First studied in the 1970s, and coined the Impostor Phenomenon, it is now commonly called Impostor Syndrome. The difference in terminology will be addressed.

For coaches, recognizing IS’s impact on clients’ confidence, leadership, and career progression is essential. This session, led by seasoned executive coach Susan Hahn, provides research-backed tools for clients to identify and overcome IS. Attendees will experience an IS assessment, gain strategies to foster resilience and self-assurance, and learn to guide clients toward lasting confidence. Personal insights and coaching techniques will empower coaches to lead clients with authenticity and impact. As part of the presentation, Susan will share how the Impostor Syndrome and Emotional Intelligence showed up during her recovery following a serious accident.

As a business owner, executive coach, workplace mediator, and trainer, Susan works with diverse organizations throughout the United States, Europe and Canada. In addition to serving as CEO of Swan Consulting Group, she is adjunct faculty at Johns Hopkins University. Susan is a Certified Physician Leadership Coach through the Physician Coaching Institute and formerly credentialed as an executive coach through the International Coaching Federation (PCC). Certifications in mediation were awarded from The Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers (MICPEL) and The Baltimore School for Mediation.

Susan is a master facilitator of the Strength Deployment Inventory, and Wiley Partner and Distributor of Everything DiSC and the Five Behaviors. She is the founding president of ICF-MD and remains an active participant in the Harvard Medical School/McClean Hospital programs focused on coaching in healthcare. Prior to founding Swan Consulting Group in 2001, Susan served for 23 years in executive positions, most notably as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of a Behavioral Health System.
